1. Distinguishing

a) Stumbling
b) Falling

2. Israel stumbled

a) Failing to differentiate “works” from “grace”
b) Seeking to attain salvation instead of obtaining through faith

3. Israel has not stumbled that it might fall

a) They need not fall away completely
b) There is yet hope for there is always grace with God

4. Through their “fall” (Romans 11:11, 12)

a) The word here is better translated “transgressions”
b) Translators preference
i) Literary- “fall”
ii) Literally- “transgressions”

5. Their “fall” (transgressions led to this “fall”) and “failure”

a) Fall or “transgressions”
i) This led to the salvation of the Gentiles (Romans 11:11)
ii) This resulted in the “riches” of the Gentiles
b) Failure
i) The failure of the Jews led to the riches of the world
ii) This led to the riches of the Gentiles (Romans 11:12)
c) If Israel were to turn to God
They will experience “fullness” (Romans 11:12)

6. Paul as an apostle to the Gentiles

a) Sent to minister to the Gentiles (Romans 11:13)
b) He seeks to provoke the Jews to return to God (Romans 11:14)
c) If only they would accept the grace of God (Romans 11:15)
d) They would experience life from the dead (Romans 11:15)
