Fulfilment of Prophetic Scripture

So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,
Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel, which is
translated,God with is.
Matthew 1:22-23

1. The prophetic text

a) Isaiah 7:14
b) Prophecy of the virgin birth of the Messiah

2. The fulfilment of this prophetic text

a) Literal fulfilment
b) Mary was the virgin chosen          Cf. Luke 1:26-56
c) The involvement of the Holy Spirit

3. The significance of the Birth of Christ

a) It will be a miraculous birth
b) He will not carry the seed of sin in Him
