RECOUNTING A PERSONAL EXAMPLE

1. In prosperity   (Psalm 30:6a)

a) God’s blessings
b) God’s favour

2. Danger

a) I shall never be moved   (Psalm 30:6b)
b) Lord, by Your favour   (Psalm 30:7a)
i) Correct speech
ii) Externally all may seem well
iii) But what about spiritually/ internally?
c) You have made my mountain stand strong   (Psalm 30:7b)
i) Mountain… natural protection   (2 Samuel 5:1-12)
ii) Stand strong… against enemies… problems etc
d) Suggestive of:
i) Complacency
ii) Conceit
iii) Self-reliance
iv) Over-confidence

3. You hid Your face   (Psalm 30:7c)

a) An expression of anger from the Lord
b) God hides Himself
i) Withdrawal
ii) Withholding of blessings
c) I was troubled
i) Feeling out of sorts
ii) Upset
iii) Listless
iv) Sorrow
v) Silence from God
vi) No word from Him
