STRONG SENTIMENTS AGAINST GOD NOTED

1. The nations   (Psalm 2:1)

b) A reference to all the nations of the world

2. Expressions of rejection of God

a) People   (Psalm 2:2)
i) Kings set themselves together
ii) Rulers take counsel together
b) Anti-God Sentiments   (Psalm 2:1)
i) Rage
ii) Plotting
c) Rejection   (Psalm 2:2)
i) Of the LORD

GOD’S RESPONSE

1. The LORD in heaven laughs in derision   (Psalm 2:4)

2. His wrath and displeasure will be made known   (Psalm 2:4)

b) He is the Anointed King
c) He will reign in the holy hill of Zion   (Psalm 2:6)

A PROPHETIC-MESSIANIC DECREE

1. A divine decree is issued   (Psalm 2:7)

2. The Messiah is declared “My Son”   (Psalm 2:7)

3. “Today I have begotten You”   (Psalm 2:7)

a) A reference to the Messiah donning flesh   (John 1:14)
b) A reference to the Birth of the Lord Jesus

GOD’S PROMISE TO HIS MESSIAH-SON

a) The nations for Your inheritance   (Psalm 2:8)

3. The Authority and Power of the Anointed King

a) You shall break them with a rod of iron
b) You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel   (Psalm 2:9)

IMPORTANT WORD OF ADVICE TO THE NATIONS

1. Be wise, O kings   (Psalm 2:10)

2. Be instructed, you judges of the earth   (Psalm 2:10)

3. Serve the LORD with fear   (Psalm 2:11)

4. Rejoice with trembling   (Psalm 2:11)

5. Kiss the Son (reconciliation in mind)   (Psalm 2:12)

a) Lest He be angry
b) And you perish in the way
c) When His wrath is kindled but a little

6. Blessed are those who trust in Him
