Text: Exodus 32:14-35

GOD’S RESPONSE TO MOSES’ INTERCESSION

c) The children of Israel were spared

MOSES DESCENDS FROM THE MOUNTAIN

1. The two tablets of the Testimony were with him    Exodus 32:15

b) Written on both sides    Exodus 32:15

MOSES AND JOSHUA
(On the way down from the mountain)

1. Joshua’s remark
There is a noise of war in the camp    Exodus 32:17

2. Moses’ rejoinder

a) It is not the noise of the shout of victory

b) Nor the noise of the cry of defeat

c) But the sound of singing I hear    Exodus 32:18

THE ANGER OF MOSES

1. What Moses saw

a) The golden calf

SURVEYING THE SITUATION

a) Whoever was on the Lord’s side- Come to me

b) All the sons of Levi gathered to him

A PAINFUL DECISION

1. Thus says the LORD God of Israel    Exodus 32:27

a) This was from the Lord

b) This was not Moses’ decision

2. Order given

a) To kill all who worshipped the golden calf

b) 3000 people fell that day    Exodus 32:27-28

c) The sons of Levi obeyed this order
