INTRODUCTION

1. Knowledge of God is of great importance

2. God’s blessings are never given randomly

PRAYING TO THE LORD

1 Give ear to my words, O LORD,
Consider my meditation.

2 Give heed to the voice of my cry,
My King and my God,
For to You I will pray.

3 My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD;
In the morning I will direct it to You,
And I will look up.

Psalm 5:1-3

1. Praying to the LORD

2. Petitions given to a King

3. Prayers are to meditated upon before being offered

4. Praying in the morning is a good start for the day

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE OF GOD

4 For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness,
Nor shall evil dwell with You.

5 The boastful shall not stand in Your sight;
You hate all workers of iniquity.

6 You shall destroy those who speak falsehood;
The LORD abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.

Psalm 5:4-6

1. God takes no pleasure in wickedness

2. He will not tolerate evil

3. The workers of iniquity will not stand in His sight

4. He will deal severely with the following:

a) Those who speak falsehood
b) Those who are bloodthirsty
c) Those who are deceitful

DETERMINING TO WALK ARIGHT

7 But as for me, I will come into Your house in the multitude of Your mercy;
In fear of You I will worship toward Your holy temple.

8 Lead me, O LORD, in Your righteousness because of my enemies;
Make Your way straight before my face.

Psalm 5:7-8

1. To be faithful in worship

2. To be reverent

3. To walk in righteousness as God leads

4. To ask for God’s way to be made straight

OBSERVATIONS ABOUT THE WICKED

9 For there is no faithfulness in their mouth;
Their inward part is destruction;
Their throat is an open tomb;
They flatter with their tongue.

10 Pronounce them guilty, O God!
Let them fall by their own counsels;
Cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions,
For they have rebelled against You.

Psalm 5:9-10

1. There is no faithfulness in their mouth

2. They use flattery

3. They are inclined towards destructive ways

4. They will be pronounced guilty

5. They will fall by their own counsels

6. They will be cast out because of their transgressions

7. They are guilty of being rebellious

ASSURANCE OF GOD’S BLESSINGS

11 But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You;
Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them;
Let those also who love Your name
Be joyful in You.

12 For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous;
With favor You will surround him as with a shield.

Psalm 5:11-12

1. God will defend the righteous

2. He will bless those who trust in Him

3. His favour would be a shield

EXHORTATION

1. Let us rejoice in the LORD

2. Let us ever shout for joy

3. Let us deepen our love for the LORD
