(I) THE PLASTIC YEARS

1. A Clear Example: Timothy

a) Learning from “childhood” (literally “from infancy”) ( 2 Timothy 3:15a )

b) Children are capable of learning about God

a) Grandmother Lois ( 2 Timothy 1:5 )

b) Mother Eunice ( 2 Timothy 1:5 )

c) Influence of faith

d) Impacted by faith

(II) THE GROWING UP YEARS

1. He had become a disciple (Acts 16:1)

2. He was well-spoken of (Acts 16:2)

3. He was spotted by Paul and taken under his wings (Acts 16:2)

4. He became known as one of Paul’s spiritual son (1 Timothy 1:2)

(III) HONOURED AS AN OUTSTANDING SERVANT OF GOD

1. Acknowledged as “a fellow worker” of Paul (Romans 16:21)

2. Described as “a beloved and faithful son” (1 Corinthians 4:17)

3. Closely associated with Paul as “bondservants” (Philippians 1:1)

4. Honoured as one truly “like-minded” (Philippians 2:20a)

5. Deep and true sincerity (Philippians 2:20)

6. Proven character (Philippians 2:22)

(IV) OUR CHALLENGE

1. As Parents

To bring up our children well- to help them become outstanding servants of Christ

2. As Sunday School Teachers/Pastors

To lend good influence- helping to mould them in the Lord

3. As a Church

To provide a good and healthy environment to grow up in
