(I) BEGAN WITH TRUST

“O LORD my God, in You I put my trust;” Psalm 7:1

1. Chose to trust from the beginning

“O Lord, my God in You I put my trust.” Psalm 7:1

2. Circumstances in which trust was exercised

“Save me from all those who persecute me; and deliver me,” Psalm 7:1

3. Trust as a contrasting approach

(II) THE FOCUS OF OUR TRUST…GOD AS JUDGE

1. Knowledge of a Just Judge

a) God will judge all people

“So the congregation of the peoples shall surround You; For their sakes, therefore, return on high. The LORD shall judge the peoples;” Psalm 7:7, 8

b) God will test the hearts and minds of all

“Oh, let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but establish the just; for the righteous God tests the hearts and minds.” Psalm 7:9

c) Declared as a just Judge

“God is a just judge, and God is angry with the wicked every day.” Psalm 7:11

2. The judgment of the Lord

a) Concerning those who know Him

“LORD my God, if I have done this: If there is iniquity in my hands, if I have repaid evil to him who was at peace with me, or have plundered my enemy without cause, Let the enemy pursue me and overtake me;Yes, let him trample my life to the earth, and lay my honor in the dust.” Psalm 7:4, 5 “Judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to my integrity within me.” Psalm 7:8

b) Concerning those who are evil

“God is a just judge, and God is angry with the wicked every day.” Psalm 7:11 “If he does not turn back, He will sharpen His sword; He bends His bow and makes it ready. He also prepares for Himself instruments of death; He makes His arrows into fiery shafts.” Psalm 7:12-13

(III) THE CALL OF TRUST…FOR GOD TO JUDGE

1. A call to the Lord to arise

“Arise, O LORD, in Your anger; lift Yourself up because of the rage of my enemies; Rise up for me to the judgment You have commanded!” Psalm 7:6

2. God will bring about an end to wickedness

“Oh, let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end,” Psalm 7:9

(IV) END WITH TRUST…PRAISING THE LORD

“I will praise the LORD according to His righteousness, and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.” Psalm 7:17
