ANOTHER GLORIOUS SONG OF PRAISE

1. Personal determination to praise the Lord

a) O LORD, You are my God   (Isaiah 25:1)
b) I will exalt You
c) I will praise Your name   (Isaiah 25:1)

2. Great Reasons for praising the Lord

a) Because of who God is
i) Your counsels of old are faithful
ii) And true   (Isaiah 25:1)
b) Because of what God has done/ can do
i) He has made a fortified city a ruin   (Isaiah 25:2)
ii) A city can be destroyed forever   (Isaiah 25:2)
iii) A strong people will glorify God   (Isaiah 25:3; Daniel 2)
c) God’s relationship to His people
i) A strength to the poor/ needy   (Isaiah 25:4)
ii) A refuge from the storm   (Isaiah 25:4)
iii) A shade from the heat   (Isaiah 25:4)
d) With reference to enemies
i) Reduction of the noise of aliens   (Isaiah 25:5)
ii) The song of the terrible ones will be diminished   (Isaiah 25:5)

3. A prophetic vision of the future

a) Mount Zion will be the centre of God’s attention   (Isaiah 25:6-7, 10)
b) He will swallow up death forever   (Isaiah 25:8)
c) He will wipe away all tears   (Isaiah 25:8)
d) He will take away the rebuke of His people   (Isaiah 25:8)

4. A great declaration of faith

a) Behold, this is our God   (Isaiah 25:9)
b) We have waited for Him   (Isaiah 25:9)
c) We will be glad and rejoice in His salvation   (Isaiah 25:9)
