PAUL’S PRAYER FOR THE COLOSSIAN CHURCH

1. In Thanksgiving   (Colossians 1:3)

2. To be filled with the knowledge of His will   (Colossians 1:9)

a) In all wisdom
b) And spiritual understanding

3. To walk worthy of the Lord   (Colossians 1:10a)

4. Fully pleasing Him   (Colossians 1:10b)

5. Being fruitful in every good work   (Colossians 1:10c)

6. Increasing in the knowledge of God   (Colossians 1:10d)

7. Strengthened with all might

According to His glorious power   (Colossians 1:11)
a) For all patience
b) And longsuffering
c) With joy

8. Giving thanks to the Father   (Colossians 1:12)

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF PAUL’S PRAYER

1. There is much more to being a Christian than to have salvation in Him

2. The Christian Life as God planned it

a) The believer is to be a knowledgeable Christian
b) He must seek to walk worthy of His calling as a Christian
c) He must seek to please the Lord by the way he lives
d) He is to be fruitful
e) He has to keep seeking to increase his knowledge of God
f) He is to seek strength from God
g) He should be filled with thanksgiving to God for salvation

A DEEPER APPRECIATION OF OUR SALVATION IN CHRIST

1. God has qualified us to be partakers
of the inheritance of the saints in the light   (Colossians 1:12)

2. He has delivered us from the power of darkness   (Colossians 1:13)

3. He has conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love   (Colossians 1:13)

4. He has given us redemption through the blood of Christ   (Colossians 1:14)

5. He has given us full forgiveness of all our sins   (Colossians 1:14)
