EVENING MESSAGE ` Wednesday 20 March 2019 Text: Isaiah 12, 25, 41 (Consecration) Title: “Springs of water”

THE SEARCH FOR LIFE-GIVING WATER

1. The search for life-giving water is natural

The poor and needy seek water, but there is none Their tongues fail for thirst (Isaiah 41:17)

O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You.

My soul thirsts for You My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water. (Psalm 63:1)

a) Physical water
b) Spiritual water
c) In a dry and thirsty land

2. A glorious promise from the LORD

I, the LORD, will hear them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them (Isaiah 41:17b)

a) The LORD will hear their cries
b) He will not forsake them

3. Revelation of what God would do Imagery of water expanded This is an application of “The wells of salvation”

a) Rivers I will open rivers in desolate heights (Isaiah 41:18a)
b) Fountains And fountains in the midst of the valleys (Isaiah 41:18b)
c) Pools of water I will make the wilderness a pool of water (Isaiah 41:18c)
d) Springs of water And the dry land springs of water (Isaiah 41:18df)

4. Further revelation from God

a) He will plant a cluster of trees
b) The symbolic number seven was used to describe how perfectly God will do this
c) Seven trees were mentioned:
i) Cedar
ii) Acacia
iii) Myrtle
iv) Oil (Reference to the olive tree)
v) Cypress
vi) Pine
vii) Box ( A variety of the cedar family)

5. Reasons for the creation of this forest of trees

To help His people o understand and appreciate the Lord’s work and not take Him for granted!

a) That they may see
b) That they may know
c) And consider
d) And understand together
e) That the LORD has done this
f) That the Holy One of Israel has created it (Isaiah 41:20)

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE ABOVE REVELATION

1. The blessed man is compared to a tree planted by the rivers of water (Psalm 1)

2. The blessed individual is planted in the house of the LORD (Psalm 92:13)

a) He can be fresh
b) Fruitful
c) Flourishing (Psalm 92:12-14)

CONSECRATION

1. It takes time to grow a tree

a) Years
b) Much care needed
i) Isaiah 5
ii) Isaiah 27:2-3 (God will tend the tree personally, day and night)
b) Do we have the following?
i) Faith
ii) Patience
iii) Perseverance

2. It takes faith to wait on the LORD to do this

a) Do we have the faith?
b) Do we have the ability to wait on the Lord

3. It takes a lot to devote time to cultivate a walk with God

a) Will we walk in the light of the Lord?
b) Will we be able to see that great light?
c) Would we be willing to be guided by Him
