CHURCH FAMILY CAMP 17-22 March 2019 “Wells of Salvation”

EVENING MESSAGE Monday 18 March 2019 Text: Isaiah 12, 25 Title: “For YAH, the LORD is my strength and song” Isaiah 12:2

MISTAKEN STRENGTH

1. Filled with Eastern ways (Isaiah 2:6)

a) False teachings/ practices They are filled with soothsayers like the Philistines (Isaiah 2:6c)
b) Affluence Their land is also full of silver and gold No end to their treasures (Isaiah 2:7a)
c) Might (military) Their land is also full of horses, And there is no end to their chariots (Isaiah 2:7b)
d) Idols Their land is also full of idols They worship the work of their hands (Isaiah 2:8)
e) Pride/ arrogance The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, The haughtiness of men shall be bowed down The LORD Himself shall be exalted in that day (Isaiah 2:11)
The day of the LORD of hosts shall come upon everything Proud and lofty. (Isaiah 2:12)

2. Chastisement of the LORD to humble Israel “Let me tell you what I will do to My vineyard And break down its wall, and it shall be trampled down” (Isaiah 5:5)

a) Removal of protection I will take away its hedge, and it shall be burned (Isaiah 5:5)
b) No attention given I will lay it waste; it shall not be pruned or dug (Isaiah 5:5)
c) Problems will arise There shall come up briers and thorns. I will also command the clouds not to rain on it (Isaiah 5:6)
d) Desolation to the land Truly, many houses shall be desolate, Great and beautiful ones, without inhabitant (Isaiah 5:9)
e) All humbled People shall be brought down, each man shall be humbled, And the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled.
But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgment And God who is holy shall be hallowed in righteousness (Isaiah 5:15-16)

TRUE STRENGTH

“O house of Jacob, come and let us walk in the light of the LORD” (Isaiah 2:5)

“Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For YAH, the LORD is my strength and song, He also has become My salvation. (Isaiah 12:2) For You have been a strength to the poor, A strength to the needy in his strength, A refuge from the storm; A shade from the heat; For the blast of the is as a storm against the wall. (Isaiah 25:3)

b) Spiritual deliverance

2. The LORD is my strength and song

a) My strength
i) Physical
ii) Emotional
iii) Spiritual
iv) Strength to cope
v) Strength to sustain service
vi) Strength to be courageous
vii) Strength to stand along
viii) Strength of mind
ix) Strength of resolve
b) My song
i) Inspired to write spiritual songs
ii) Inspiration to write
iii) Song of praise
iv) Song of thanksgiving
v) Song of joy
vi) Song of hope
vii) Song for teaching
viii) Song to encourage others
ix) Song to give hope

RENEWABLE STRENGTH

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth neither faint, nor is weary; His understanding is unsearchable.

He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might, He increases strength.

Even the youths shall faint and not be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall.

But those who wait on the LORD, shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:28-31)

b) He increases strength to those who have no might
c) Those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength
d) They shall not be weary
e) They shall not faint
