Session # 1

Exodus 19:4-6
You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself.

Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people: for all the earth is Mine.

And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.

A GLORIOUS WORD

1. You have seen what I did to the Egyptians

a) The 10 plagues that devastated the land of Egypt
b) Pharaoh and his army reduced to nothing

2. How I bore you on eagles’ wings

a) Imagery of an eagle
b) Mighty and majestic

3. Brought you to Myself

a) Redeemed
b) Relationship offered
i) I will take you as My People
ii) I will be your God Exodus 6:7

4. A special treasure to Me above all people

a) A glorious concept
b) A special relationship

5. Condition

a) Protasis
i) If you will indeed obey My voice
ii) And keep My covenant
b) Apodosis
Then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for the earth is Mine.

ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS

1. A Great Nation
Deuteronomy 4:7

For what great nation is there that has God so near to it, as the LORD our God is to us, for whatever reason we may call upon Him?

a) A great nation
b) God is near to His people Psalm 75:1
c) When they call upon Him, He is near Psalm 145:18

2. An Inheritance
Deuteronomy 4:20
But the LORD has taken you and brought you out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to be His people, an inheritance as you are today.

3. A holy People
Deuteronomy 7:6
For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people to Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth.

Deuteronomy 6:4-6

Hear, O Israel: the LORD our God, the LORD is one! You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your strength.

And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.

You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down and when you rise up.

Deuteronomy 10:12-13

And to keep the commandments of the LORD and His statutes which I command you today for your good.
