WHAT IS “DESTINY”

  1. It is a calling

  1. It is discovering what that Calling is

  1. It is fulfilling that Calling effectively

HOW MAY ONE’S DESTINY BE DISCOVERED?

  1. Revelation from God

a) God reveals
b) God explains
c) God empowers
  1. Reception of God’s revelation about Destiny

a) Initial reaction
b) Incredulity
c) Impossibility

JEREMIAH’S DESTINY

  1. To be God’s servant

  1. To be God’s prophet

ANOTHER WAY OF LOOKING AT DESTINY

  1. Pre-destination

a) Positive encouragement
b) Planned by God
c) Power of God to ensure success
  1. Pre-destination

a) Poorly understood
b) It is mere fate
c) There is resignation to one’s fate

THE OUTWORKINGS OF PRE-DESTINATION

a) Appreciation of God

WHY IT DOES NOT SEEM TO WORK FOR SOME

  1. Lack of knowledge

  1. Lack of a strong relationship with God

  1. Lack of empowering from the Spirit of God

  1. Lack of wisdom to discern what God is communicating to us

ENCOURAGEMENT TO OUR HEARTS

  1. To learn how to see things from God’s perspective

a) He has greater plans than ours
b) He has greater thoughts than ours
  1. Seeing things from God’s perspective

a) The long view (eternity)
b) The broad view (all encompassing)
c) The deep view (wisdom and discernment needed)
d) Exercising faith in God’s way of working
  1. The exercising of our faith

a) To understand the Examples given to us in the Scriptures
b) To believe in God and His word
c) To live by faith

THE EXAMPLE OF JEREMIAH

  1. His calling to be a prophet of God

a) Human standpoint
i) Too young
ii) Lack of ability to speak
iii) Lacking in knowledge
iv) Lacking in experience
b) Divine Standpoint
i) God’s calling
ii) God’s word
iii) God’s promise
iv) God’s power
  1. The Success of Jeremiah in fulfilling his Destiny
