APPRECIATING THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AS A TEACHER

1. He was a Marvelous Teacher

a) He taught with gentleness
b) He taught with patience

2. He was a Mighty Teacher

a) He proved what He said
b) He backed it up with action

3. He was a Meaningful Teacher

a) He was gracious and kind
b) He taught with great skill
i) To those who had limited understanding
ii) To those who had more knowledge
iii) He would repeat Himself sometimes
iv) He would remind at other times

APPRECIATING THE WAY THE LORD JESUS TAUGHT

1. One of the most effective ways of Teaching

a) “Most assuredly”

THE STRUGGLES WE HAVE IN LEARNING

1. Concerning the Matter of Salvation

THE APPLICATION OF THE LORD’S WORD IN OUR LIFE
(We will look at John 5 in particular)

1. A word of Assurance

“Most assuredly, I say to you…”   John 5:24a

2. Five aspects of Assurance:

a) Believing in God
“He who believes in Him”   John 5:24b
i) Basic belief in God
ii) This is the starting point
b) Believing in the Lord Jesus
“Who sends Me”   John 5:24c
i) Believing that God sent the Lord Jesus
ii) The Lord Jesus was doing what God sent Him to do
c) Everlasting life
“Has everlasting life”   John 5:24d
i) Believing leads to a result
ii) Believing leads to a reward
iii) The Result-Reward is Everlasting Life
d) No fear of Judgment
“And shall not come into judgment”   John 5:24e
i) There may have been a fear of Judgment
ii) There is now no need to fear Judgment
iii) We are assured by the Lord Jesus
e) From Death to Life
“But has passed from death into life”   John 5:24f
i) We may have been afraid of Death
ii) We do not need to fear anymore
iii) We have been passed from the Judgment of Death
iv) We have Life… Everlasting Life

CONCLUSION

1. God wants to give us strong Assurance

2. This Assurance may be ours strongly

3. Focus on what the Lord Jesus said

“Most assuredly, I say to you”

4. Exercise Faith in the Lord and His teaching

Assurance will be found!
