(II) THE THEME OF TRUST

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart,And lean not on your own understanding;In all your ways acknowledge Him,And He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

1. Trust in the LORD with all your heart

a) Believing in the Lord

i) Believing in His word

ii) Trusting in the promises of His word

b) With all your heart

i) Totality

ii) Not partial

2. And lean not on your own understanding

a) Own understanding

i) Devoid of God

ii) Devoid of wisdom from God

iii) Completely human thinking

b) Lean not

i) Total reliance

ii) Total trust in self

c) It is acknowledging Him in all our ways

3. In all your ways acknowledge Him

a) Recognition of God’s hand in our life

b) Acknowledgment of God in all our ways

c) Involving God in all we do

4. And He shall direct your paths

a) God will lead

b) God will guide

c) God will direct our paths

(III) PRACTICAL EXPRESSIONS OF TRUST

1. Practise Fearing the Lord

It will result in health and strength in life ( Proverbs 3:7-8 )

2. Practise Honouring the Lord with our possessions

It will result in abundant blessings ( Proverbs 3:9-10 )

3. Practise submission to the chastening of the Lord

It will result in an even closer Father-son relationship ( Proverbs 3:11-12 )
