THE REALIABILITY OF THE PROPHESIES OF THE LORD JESUS

“As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets…” Luke 1:70

1. God gave the word through His holy prophets

a. They are from God
b. They are fully reliable
c. They were written hundred of years before fulfilment

2. They are promises from God

3. God had sworn that He would keep His promises

4. This prophecy concerning the Lord Jesus coming to give salvation Malachi 4:2

a. The Lord will come to earth
b. He will come to help and heal the righteous
c. He will do this work with great power

THE PERSONAL REINFORCEMENT TO THE PROPHECIES OF THE LORD JESUS

1. The Lord will visit His people
“For He has visited and redeemed His people…” Luke 1:68

a. The Lord looks down from heaven and sees the needs of the people
i. He knows what His people are going through
ii. He knows their challenges and problems
iii. This was the Lord’s compassion on His people
iv. The Lord God came to be with His people.
v. He will visit those in need
b. The Lord will bring about redemption
i. He will save His people
ii. He will redeem His people from the bondage of sin and the problems of life

2. The Lord will raise up a horn of salvation for us
“And has raised up a horn of salvation for us…” Luke 1:69

a. The horn represents the idea of power
i. There will rise up a powerful bringer of salvation
ii. This horn of salvation is a reference to the Son of God, the Lord Jesus
iii. There will be tremendous power needed to bring salvation to the world
b. There will be great power involved
i It will take great power to heal the sick
ii It will take great power to forgive sins
iii It takes nothing less than the power of God to give us salvation.
vii. Through the Lord’s mercies, the Lord Jesus has visited us and redeemed us

3. These prophecies will be fulfilled in one lifetime (33 years)

4. These prophecies became personal to Zacharias – He believed in them

THE ACCURATE FULFILLMENT OF THE PROPHECIES OF THE LORD JESUS – PROVEN

1. The Lord Jesus visited Zacchaeus

2. The Lord Jesus healed a lady with an infirmity for 18 years (Luke 13:10-13)

a. The Lord Jesus was with a lady who had a spirit of infirmity for 18 years
i. She was bent over
ii. She could not raise herself up
b. The Lord had compassion on her
i. He called her to Himself
ii. He spoke of how she was loosed from her infirmity
iii. He laid hands on her
iv. She was made straight
v. She has been saved from the power of Satan
c. She glorified God.

APPROPRIATE RESPONSES TO FULFILLMENT OF PROPHECIES

1. Faith in the Prophetic word

a. It is reliable
b. It is accurate
c. It was fulfilled

2. Faith in the Lord Jesus

a. The Lord’s compassion to visit and redeem us
b. The Lord’s power to save us

3. Faith to rejoice in the Lord at Christmas

a. With meaning
b. With gratitude
