Behold, your God

Message Notes

(I) GREAT MESSAGES TO BE PROCLAIMED

1. A message of comfort (Isaiah 40:1-2)

2. A message of the glory of God to be revealed (Isaiah 40:5)

a) A messenger will be sent

b) He will prepare the way of the Lord ( Isaiah 40:3-4 )

3. The word of God stands forever (Isaiah 40:8)

4. “Behold, your God” (Isaiah 40:9f)

(II) A GLORIOUS DESCRIPTION OF THE LORD WITH REFERENCE TO HIS MESSIAH

1. He will come with a strong hand (Isaiah 40:10a)

2. He will come as a ruler (Isaiah 40:10b)

3. He will come with rewards (Isaiah 40:10c)

4. He will come and feed His flock like a shepherd (Isaiah 40:11)

a) He will gather the lambs

b) He will carry them in His bosom

c) He will gently lead those who are with young

(III) A GLORIOUS DESCRIPTION OF THE LORD GOD HIMSELF

1. God as Creator (Isaiah 40:12, 25-26)

2. God in His omniscience (Isaiah 40:13-14)

3. God in His might (compared to the nations) (Isaiah 40:15-17)

4. God compared to idols (Isaiah 40:18-20)

(IV) AN APPROPRIATE RESPONSE

1. To reject foolish and erroneous thoughts (Isaiah 40:27)

2. To deepen knowledge of God (Isaiah 40:28-30)

3. To determine to wait upon the Lord (Isaiah 40:31)

4. To find renewal of strength
