THE REVELATION OF GOD

  1. The doctrine of God

a) Revealed

  1. To Abraham

As “God Almighty” (El Shaddai)                           Exodus 6:3

  1. To Moses and the Children of Israel

As “LORD”                                                                  Exodus 6:2

THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD           

  1. This was “assumed” than formally stated

a) Natural assumption
b) Correct understanding and application
  1. Features (of God’s kingdom) to be noted

a) By virtue of God being LORD                         Exodus 6:3, 8
b) His covenant relationship                              Exodus 6:4
c) His relationship with “His people”             Exodus 6:7
d) He will give them the Promised Land       Exodus 6:8

THE REJECTION OF GOD AS KING

  1. Rejection of the Lord noted in the days of Moses Numbers 14:11

  1. Formal rejection noted in the days of Samuel 1 Samuel 8:7

THE IDEA OF A KINGDOM

  1. Beginning with King Saul 1 Samuel 8:19

a) An earthly king was in mind
b) An earthly kingdom was desired

a) His understanding was that the LORD was King
b) He was at best the regent of the Lord
c) His prayers referred to God as King
i) My King and my God           Psalm 5:2

THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN

  1. Jesus proclaimed that the Kingdom of heaven was at hand Matthew 4:17

  1. Seeing the kingdom of heaven through being born again John 3:3

  1. Blessings of being in the Kingdom of heaven Matthew 5:3, 10

PRAYING FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD TO COME

  1. Part of the Lord’s Prayer Matthew 6:10

  1. Implications: –

a) Desire for the Lord’s kingdom to be established
b) For the Lord to return as the King of kings
