Subject: Ramifications of Faith in Lord Jesus Christ

INTRODUCTION

1. Faith in the Lord Jesus affected all aspects of life

2. The following may be noted:

a) Theology affects our use of language
b) Theology affects the way we see life and ministry
c) Theology affects even the way we send greetings to each other

3. Theology of Faith in God

a) Faith is meant to impact our life in every way

b) Faith was meant to enrich our life

 

5 Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name, 

6 among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ;

7 To all who are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints:

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 1:5-7

1. Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ

a) Salvation is obtained
b) Our relationship with the Lord Jesus affects every aspect of our life
“Through Him” Romans 1:5
i) This is a reference to the Lord Jesus Christ
ii) He is more than Saviour
iii) He was meant to indwell us and affect the very way we live

2. Ministry

” Through Him we have received grace and apostleship” Romans 1:5

a) Grace is given for salvation
b) Grace is also necessary for service
c) Apostleship:
i) It is through grace
ii) Not personal merit

3. What is the Ultimate Goal of Ministry?

“For obedience to the faith among all nations for His name” Romans 1:1

a) Obedience to Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ
b) Obedience is to be taught in all nations for His name’s sake

4. Our Calling from the Lord Jesus Christ

6 among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ;

7 To all who are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Romans 1:6-7

a) To salvation
i) To follow Him as Disciples (Matthew 4:19a)
ii) To become fishers of men (Matthew 4:19b
b) We are also called “Saints”
i) Called “Christians”
ii)In Antioch, Syria Acts 11:26
c) Many terms for believers
i) Disciples
ii) Children of God
iii) Followers of The Way

5. Social Greetings

“Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 1:7

a) Normal greetings
i) Roman
“Hail”
ii) Jews
“Peace”
b) Christian Greetings
i) Faith in the Lord affected the way Christians greeted each other
ii) “Grace and Peace” were uttered now to reflect our Theology
iii) From God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ
