THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

1. The First Four Laws

a) They relate to God
b) They teach man how to regard God
c) They teach us how we are to worship Him

2. The Last Six Laws

a) They relate to Man and his life on earth
b) These fundamental Laws help us to understand how we may live as God had planned

A CAREFUL STATEMENT OF THE LAST SIX LAWS

1. The Fifth Commandment   Exodus 20:12

a) Honour your father and your mother
b) That your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you

2. The Sixth Commandment   Exodus 20:13

You shall not murder

3. The Seventh Commandment   Exodus 20:14

You shall not commit adultery

4. The Eighth Commandment   Exodus 20:15

You shall not steal

5. The Ninth Commandment   Exodus 20:16

You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour

6. The Tenth Commandment   Exodus 20:17

You shall not covet
a) You shall not covet your neighbour’s house
b) You shall not covet your neighbour’s wife
c) Nor his male servant
d) Nor his female servant
e) Nor his ox
f) Nor his donkey
g) Nor anything that is your neighbour’s

THE REACTION OF THE CHILDREN OF GOD

1. They witnessed the thundering, lightning etc.

2. They trembled

3. They stood afar off   Exodus 20:18

4. They said to Moses

a) You speak with us
b) And we will hear
c) But let not God speak with us, lest we die   Exodus 20:19

ASSURANCE FROM MOSES TO ALLAY FEARS

1. Do not fear

2. God has come to test you

3. That His fear may be before you

4. That you may not sin   Exodus 20:20
