A SOLEMN WORD FROM THE LORD

1. Depart and go from here

2. You and your people whom you have brought out of the land of Egypt

3. To the land which I swore to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob

4. To your descendants I will give it

5. And I will send My Angel before you

6. And I will drive out the Canaanite, Amorite, Hittite, Perizzite, Hivites and Jebusites

7. Go up to the land flowing with milk and honey

8. For I will not go up with you… lest I consume you alongside   (Exodus 33:1-3)

REACTION OF THE PEOPLE

1. Mourning

2. Putting of all ornaments

REMEMBERING AN EARLIER WORD SPOKEN

1. A stiff-necked people

2. I could come up into your midst in one moment and consume you

3. Now therefore, take off your ornaments, that I may know what to do to you.   (Exodus 33:4-6)

MOSES’ TENT

1. He pitched his tent far away from the main camp

2. His tent was called “The tabernacle of meeting”   (Exodus 33:7)

CONSULTING WITH MOSES

1. Those who wanted to see Moses would have to make an effort

2. New regard for Moses

a) People respected Moses
b) At least some of the people did respect Moses   (Exodus 33:8)

3. The Lord’s Presence

a) The Lord came to meet up with Moses
b) His glory could be seen by the people
c) People rose up and worshipped the Lord when they saw His presence in the tabernacle of Moses   (Exodus 33:9)

4. The Lords’ Relationship with Moses

a) He spoke to Moses face-to-face
b) As a man speaks to his friend   (Exodus 33:10)

5. Moses’ ministry

a) He would go the main camp
b) He would return to his tent in the evening   (Exodus 33:11)

6. Joshua

a) He was called (Moses’) servant
b) He did not depart from Moses’s tent   (Exodus 33:11)
