STANDING BEFORE THE LORD

INVITATION

1. All may enter into this Covenant   (Deuteronomy 29:12a)

2. Oath must be taken   (Deuteronomy 29:12b)

3. The Covenant was to be given afresh   (Deuteronomy 29:12c)

ESTABLISHMENT OF THE COVENANT

1. That He may establish the Covenant   (Deuteronomy 29:13a)

2. As a people to Himself   (Deuteronomy 29:13b)

3. That He may be God to the people   (Deuteronomy 29:13c)

4. Just as He had spoken   (Promised)

a) To Abraham
b) To Isaac
c) To Jacob   (Deuteronomy 29:13d)

COVENANT WITH THE PRESENT GENERATION AND BEYOND

1. Covenant and oath   (Deuteronomy 29:14a)

2. Not with this generation alone   (Deuteronomy 29:14-15)

3. Also with those who were not there   (Deuteronomy 29:15)

IMPORTANT MEMORIES THAT MUST BE KEPT

1. The abominations/ the idols of Egypt   (Deuteronomy 29:16-17)

2. Idols made of wood/ stone/ gold/ silver   (Deuteronomy 29:17)

3. Watch the heart

a) The heart that turns away from the LORD   (Deuteronomy 29:18a)
b) To serve the gods of these nations (Canaan)   (Deuteronomy 29:18b)
c) Root bearing bitterness/ wormwood   (Deuteronomy 29:18c)
d) Self-deception
i) Ignoring the curses
ii) Calls the curses as blessings   (Deuteronomy 28:19a)
iii) Believing that he has peace
iv) Even though he follows the dictates of the heart   (Deuteronomy 29:19b)
v) The drunkard and the sober are not the same   (Deuteronomy 29:19c)
