(I) STRUGGLES WITH UNBELIEF

1. The Lord’s word to Moses

a) Go in

b) Tell Pharaoh, king of Egypt

c) To let the children of Israel go out of the land of Egypt (Exodus 6:10-11)


2. Moses’ response

a) The children of Israel have not heeded me

b) How then shall the Pharaoh heed me?

c) I am of uncircumcised lips (Exodus 6:12)


3. The Lord’s word to Moses and Aaron

a) This word was a command

b) Recipients

i) The Pharaoh

ii) The children of Israel

c) The children of Israel are to leave the land of Egypt (Exodus 6:13)

2. Significance of this brief mention

a) Simeon and Levi

i) Their background was far from good (Genesis 34)

ii) Spoken of poorly by Jacob on his death bed (Genesis 49:5-7)

b) Yet in the mercies of God they were now poised to play a significant role in the nation of Israel

i) Moses would become an outstanding leader

ii) Aaron would become high priests

iii) His sons would become priests

iv) The other sons of Levi would become Levites

c) The Levites

i) Gershon

ii) Kohath

iii) Merari
