(I) JOSEPH REVEALS HIMSELF

1. He orders his servants to leave him alone

2. He gives in to his emotions and wept (Genesis 45:1)

(II) JOSEPH EXPLAINS IN DETAIL

1. He formally discloses himself

“I am Joseph” Genesis 45:3a

2. He asks about Jacob

“Does my father still live?” Genesis 45:3b

3. Allaying the fears of his brothers

They were naturally afraid because of the wrong they did to Joseph (Genesis 45:3c)

4. Encouragement to draw near

“Please, come near to me” Genesis 45:4a

a) He was still their brother (Genesis 45:4b)

b) Forgiving their misdeed (Genesis 45:5a)

g) God’s hand involved (Genesis 45:5-8)

h) God sent (used 3 times)

i) Sent to preserve a posterity for you in the earth (Genesis 45:7a)

(III) ADMONITION TO INFORM JACOB

1. That God had made Joseph lord of all Egypt (Genesis 45:9)

2. That he is to come down to Egypt and live there, in Goshen (Genesis 45:10)

3. Everyone was to come and live in Goshen as a family (Genesis 45:10)

4. Joseph will provide for everyone for the famine had another 5 years to go (Genesis 45:11)

5. Inform Jacob of the glory of Joseph (i.e. his success) (Genesis 45:12-13)
(IV) FAMILY RECONCILIATION

1. Joseph and Benjamin (Genesis 45:14)

2. Joseph and all his other brothers (Genesis 45:15)
(V) A WORD FROM PHARAOH

1. He is pleased (Genesis 45:16)

2. He encouraged Joseph to invite his family to dwell in Egypt (Genesis 45:17-18)

3. He makes provision to bring Jacob and all he possessed to Egypt (Genesis 45:19-20)

4. Gifts from the Pharaoh

a) Carts for the journey home (Genesis 45:21)

b) Clothes for the brothers (Genesis 45:22a)

c) Clothes and cash for Benjamin (Genesis 45:22b)

d) For Jacob- Provision of food laid on the back of 20 donkeys (Genesis 45:23)
