(I) REIGN OF KING HEZEKIAH

1. At 25, Hezekiah ascended the throne of his father King Ahaz (2 Kings 18:1-2)

2. He reigned 29 years (2 Kings 18:2)

3. He was commended for following in the ways of his father David (2 Kings 18:3)

(II) HIS GOOD DEEDS

1. He sought to remove idolatrous places of worship (2 Kings 18:4)

a) The high places

b) The sacred pillars

c) The wooden images

d) The bronze serpent Moses made (name: Nehushtan)

2. His personal faith in the Lord

a) He trusted in the Lord (2 Kings 18:5)

b) He held fast to the Lord (2 Kings 18:6a)

c) He did not depart from God (2 Kings 18:6b)

d) He kept God’s commandments (2 Kings 18:6c)

3. His enemies

a) He resisted the king of Assyria (2 Kings 18:7b)

b) He subdued the Philistines (2 Kings 18:7c)

(III) GOD’S INVOLVEMENT

1. God was with him (2 Kings 17:7a)

2. Hezekiah prospered in all he did (2 Kings 17:7a)

3. God’s blessings were evidently upon Hezekiah because he obeyed Him

(IV) IN THE LIGHT OF THE CONQUEST OF ISRAEL (2 Kings 18:9-12)

1. Assyria besieged Samaria for 3 years (2 King 18:9)

2. Israel fell in 722 BC to Assyria

3. The reason why Israel was because of its transgression of God’s covenant (2 Kings 18:12)

4. King Hezekiah was mentioned (2 Kings 18:9a)

a) Judah was not attacked

b) The nation was protected by the Lord
