“THE LORD REIGNS!”

What a beautiful theme to dwell on as we live each day and seek to worship the Lord each week! He is indeed a God who is sovereign over all things. He is the God of all creation. He is the Lord of all His created beings including each one of us. Our God can deliver us in times of difficulties and need. He has absolute control over our lives. One day, He will come to judge the earth. Truly, there is no greater God like our Lord who rules the heavens and the earth. We should be so much more conscious of the greatness of His reign as we seek to offer praise that is due to Him.

CONSCIOUSNESS OF THE ATTRIBUTES OF OUR GREAT GOD

“Honor and majesty are before Him;
Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.”
Psalm 96:6

The Psalmist was most conscious of how great the Lord is as he sought to worship Him. He described God with reference to His attributes in the light of His presence. The Lord had gained tremendous honour through all His great works. He reigns with majesty from His heavenly throne and He is covered with majesty and power. Strength is also ascribed to our powerful Lord because there is no other like Him who reigns above. He is holy and we worship Him in the beauty of His holiness. He is indeed glorious.

Even as we celebrate our 40+8 anniversary next month, we cannot help but see the Lord’s hand in leading Bethany all these years. We appreciate all that God is because of His work of reigning over us and blessing us. Let’s cultivate a greater consciousness of our great God as we worship Him.

ASCRIBING GREATNESS TO THE LORD

“Give to the LORD, O families of the peoples,
Give to the Lord glory and strength.
Give to the Lord the glory that is due His name;
Bring an offering, and come into His courts.
O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness!
Tremble before Him, all the earth.”
Psalm 96:7-9

The Psalmist took time to ascribe greatness to the Lord God. “Ascribe” means “to assign” and “to render” praise that is due to God. This is a principle that was practised by Moses as he wrote his song of praise. He sought to proclaim the name of the Lord and to ascribe greatness to the Lord God (Deuteronomy 32:3). This was a principle that the Psalmist sought to follow too.

1. GIVING GOD ALL THE GLORY IN WORSHIP

The call is for all the families of the world to give all glory to Him. They were to ascribe to God glory and strength. They were to give glory to His name. Because of who He is and what He has done, we should always give God all the glory. We should never ascribe any glory to ourselves.

2. GIVING HIM AN OFFERING IN WORSHIP

When we come before the Lord, let’s not come to Him empty-handed. Let’s bring an offering to Him with thankfulness in our hearts.

3. GIVING PROPER REVERENCE TO GOD IN WORSHIP

As we worship Him, we should also come before Him being conscious of His presence. We can recognise this wonderful beauty of God’s holiness. We should also praise and worship the Lord with a proper fear of Him. The whole earth should tremble before this great God.
God willing, we will commence our Youth Worship within the next month or so. Let’s look forward to coming back to worshipping the Lord. Our God is truly awesome. Let’s ascribe greatness to the Lord as we should with reverence of Him.
