The Lord’s Sobering Question About Faith

Have you evaluated your faith lately? Family Camp 2007 was a great time of assessing the kind of faith that we have. Pastor began on a note of great concern during the pre-camp special. He shared from the text of Luke 18.

“Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”
Luke 18:8

The Lord Jesus raised a most sobering question about the state of man’s faith when He comes again. Will He be able to find faith on this earth? The person who demonstrates real faith is one who will always pray and not lose heart. He will take the time to cry out to God and be persistent in prayer. However, the grim and future reality is that when Jesus comes, He might not be able to find many with the kind of faith that He is looking for. In fact, would He find any with faith at all? Young people, we must take the time to evaluate the kind of faith we have.

Impacted By The Example Of The Centurion’s Great Faith

“Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!”
Matthew 8:10

During the camp, a message that encouraged many hearts was the one on the example of the Centurion’s faith. He displayed great faith in seeking after the Lord Jesus and he was specially commended for it. Despite not having much knowledge of the Lord Jesus, his heart was in the right place. He constantly thought of how he was totally unworthy before the Lord Jesus. He felt that he was not worthy for Him to come to his house. He also saw the great authority and power within the Lord Jesus. He told Him that if He were to just say a word, his servant would be cured. His example emphasizes that it is possible to have great faith. Many of us were deeply impacted by his example. Young people, let’s also learn to emulate this example of faith.

Exercising A Faith That Pleases God

“But without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
Hebrews 11:6

Ultimately, we want to have a faith that pleases God. When we do not have faith, we could end up with many spiritual problems like drifting away, having an evil heart of unbelief or having discouragement. We must learn to exercise faith in God that He is all that He says He is. He is our eternal God. He will reward all those who diligently seek Him. The best way towards having a greater faith is to consciously exercise faith. Let’s exercise faith in the promises of God. Let’s practise faith by diligently seeking Him. As we exercise faith, His blessings will be on us.
