Not Ashamed Of The Gospel

There is no better time to proclaim the good news of Christ to others than Easter time. As we gear towards holy week and the celebration of Christ’s resurrection, are we committed to sharing the gospel or are we afraid to do so? If there was one person who was not ashamed of the gospel, it was the apostle Paul. The gospel of Christ meant so much to him. He was specially separated to the gospel of God (Romans 1:1). He served God with a tremendous spirit in the gospel (Romans 1:9). He was not ashamed of the gospel of Christ (Romans 1:16). His whole life was committed to preaching the good news of Christ wherever he went. How about us?

Strong Motivation To Preach The Gospel

What motivated Paul to preach the gospel the way he did?

1. A Strong Sense Of Obligation To People Who Are Lost

“I am debtor both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to wise and to unwise.”
Romans 1:14

This verse was written in the Greek with the emphasis on the people he was referring to. Whether they were well educated and sophisticated as the Greek or untrained and crude as the barbarians, Paul felt a tremendous sense of obligation and duty to preach the gospel to the Gentiles. Since he was graciously saved by the Lord, he owed it to Him and to non-believers to tell them about the gospel. Let’s be debtors too.

2. A High View Of The Gospel

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.”
Romans 1:16

Paul also saw how it was through the preaching of the gospel that people came to believe in the Lord Jesus. There is tremendous power within the gospel of Christ. When the gospel is preached in its truth and authority, it has the power to open the spiritual eyes of people and to bring them to faith in the Lord. Paul had a high view of the gospel. Let’s also have a high view of the gospel.

Being Ready To Preach The Gospel

“So, as much as is in me, I am ready to preach the gospel to you who are in Rome also.”
Romans 1:15

Paul was fully ready and committed to preaching the gospel wherever he went. He was also willing to travel all the way to Rome to preach the good news. As Easter approaches, let’s also be ready to preach the gospel to our family and friends. Let’s spare no effort to invite them for the Easter concert and lunch. Let’s be ready always to proclaim the good news of our Lord Jesus when the opportunity arises.
