Planning To Meet With God

Youth conferences can be special times of meeting with God. In fact, they are spiritual retreats where we can get away from our daily routine of life to seek God and to find Him more real and precious. This year, especially, we would be emphasising how we can find the reality of the presence of God in our lives. It makes a big difference when we come to the conference, ready to seek the Lord and prepared to meet with Him.

The Example Of Isaiah Meeting With God

The prophet Isaiah, as he sought to serve the Lord, had a special inaugural meeting with Him. What can we learn from the example of the prophet Isaiah in meeting with the Lord?

1. Standing In Awe Of A Great God

“I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up”
Isaiah 6:1

Isaiah must have seen a vision of the Lord’s throne room in heaven. He saw how great and glorious the Lord was. The Lord sits on His throne as King over all. He is described as being exalted above all. There is no one who can be compared to Him. The Lord is most holy and truly great. The whole earth is full of His glory. When we meet with God, we must stand in awe of His greatness and have the highest regard for Him.

2. Dealing With The Problem Of Our Sinfulness

“Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips”
Isaiah 6:5

As Isaiah saw how great and holy the Lord was, he realised how sinful he was before Him. He saw himself as a person whose lips spoke words that were unclean. Because he had dwelt too long with the sinful people of the world, he was also influenced by them. Young people, let’s be honest with ourselves before God at this conference. Let’s see ourselves for who we really are inside. We need the Lord to cleanse us of our sins. Let’s pray that the Lord will do this work of cleansing and changing our lives.

3. Submitting To Doing The Lord’s Will

“‘Whom shall I send,
And who will go for us?’
Then I said, ‘Here am I! send me.'”

Isaiah 6:8

As the Lord deals with our lives, may we be able to submit to His will too. Isaiah rose to the call to be sent by the Lord to do His work. Let’s also not be afraid to rise up to be sent by the Lord to do His will. When we truly have met with God, we will submit ourselves to Him. At the end of the conference, let’s not be afraid to consecrate ourselves to be sent by the Lord to serve Him. Let’s dedicate our all to do His will.
