RENEWING OUR STRENGTH IN THE LORD

When Young Men Faint And Are Weary

When we go through challenging times in life, it is easy for us to feel faint and weary.

“Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall”

Isaiah 40:30

Even young people, whose glory is in their strength, grow tired by the demands of life, i.e. school schedules and exams. In the midst of our constant tiredness, we may begin to doubt whether God can help. When these doubts dominate our minds, we will find it hard to depend on the Lord. It is critical that we eradicate these doubts and learn all over again what it means to renew our strength in the Lord. How can we do this?

1. Personal Rediscovery Of God As Our Greatest Source Of Strength

“Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the Lord,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.”

Isaiah 40:28-29

We must go beyond knowledge to faith in a truly powerful God in our lives. This God, who created the whole earth, does not feel tiredness at any time. His wisdom and understanding goes beyond human comprehension. He is able to strengthen the weak and the weary. There is the need for us to rediscover this God in a deeper way. Let’s learn to renew our strength in the Lord.

2. Patient Reliance On The Lord For Strength

“But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength.”

Isaiah 40:31

When we have used up our personal sources of strength, the Lord will come in and help us. We must learn to wait patiently for the Lord to give us strength. There are times when that strength from the Lord does not come straight away. We must learn to have continual reliance on Him. We must not doubt the Lord. When we learn to wait and trust in the Lord, there comes that revitalization of strength.

Results Of Renewing Our Strength In The Lord

What are the results of renewing our strength in the Lord? Isaiah wrote of how there would come the strength of a “mounting eagle”.

“They shall mount up with wings like eagles”
Isaiah 40:31

As much as a great eagle rises up into the sky with powerful and strong wings, even so, we will rise up from our despair and tiredness with great strength. The Lord will empower us to face the challenges of life. Furthermore, the Lord will also give us both spiritual and physical stamina.

“They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.”

Isaiah 40:31

We will “run” but we will not be easily tired out. When we “walk”, we will also not feel faint. Young people, let’s learn to wait on the Lord and find that renewal of strength in Him.
