PRAISING THE LORD GOD THIS CHRISTMAS

As we celebrate Christmas, let’s seek to give praise to the LORD with hearts of thanksgiving. We thank God for the Lord Jesus who came down to be with us at Christmas. There are wonderful reasons for us to give praise to the LORD God. Let’s use the acronym PRAISE to help us do so.

1. P – THE PERSON OF THE LORD JESUS

Our first reason that we give praise to God is the person of the Lord Jesus and what He means to us. He came to be with us on Christmas and there is so much significance with regard to who He is and what He will do for us. He is our Saviour, who will save us from our sins. He is “God with us”, who will be with us in every set of circumstances of life. The Lord Jesus is the King over our lives. He is the One who will shepherd His people. He will lead us throughout our lives. And there is so much more that we can know of the Lord Jesus. We praise Him for the glory of who He is and what He has done for us.

2. R – REJOICING IN THE LORD

Because of who the Lord Jesus is and what He has done for us, there can come a deep sense of appreciation and gratitude to Him. We can rejoice in the person of the Lord Jesus and give praise to the LORD God for Him. Let’s rejoice in this personal relationship we have with Him.

3. A – APPRECIATING THE ATTRIBUTES OF GOD

Another thing that we can give praise for at Christmas are the attributes of God. It is out of the great love, grace, and mercy of God that He sent the Lord Jesus to be with us. His attributes are what we should deeply appreciate today. Our hearts should be so full as we dwell on them that we can’t help but praise Him.

4. I – INSPIRATION

When the mind and heart are full of thoughts about the person of the Lord Jesus and the attributes of God, there comes the inspiration to give thanks and to praise Him. The heart should be deeply inspired to give praise to the LORD as we listen to His word and dwell on it.

5. S – SALVATION

It is through the Lord Jesus that we can be saved from our sins. He came to be the Saviour of the world. We should give praise to the Lord for our eternal home in Christ.

6. E – EXPRESSION OF FAITH

Praise comes forth as an expression of faith and hope in the Lord Jesus. Despite what the world is like today, we should still exercise faith to give Him all the glory and praise.

PERSONAL RESPONSE OF PRAISE

At Christmas, let’s deeply appreciate the person of the Lord Jesus, the attributes of God that brought Him here and the salvation that He has given to us that gives meaning and purpose to our lives. Let’s rejoice, be deeply inspired, and seek to exercise our faith in praising the LORD God for the Lord Jesus. Let’s praise Him this Christmas and always.
