PLAN TO COME FOR THE YAG/YC RETREAT

Have you signed up for the YAG/YC Retreat? Please plan to do so. This Retreat is going to be an exciting time of studying the Scriptures at the Le Grandeur Resort. The theme for this Retreat is “In The Day Of Trouble”. While many of us may not be going through much trouble personally, we are living in a troubled world. With the ISIS attack in Paris that happened just last week, we should be ever more conscious that we are living in disturbing times. It is good for us to take time at this Retreat to seek the Lord and to study the Scriptures in an intensive manner. Let’s plan to come for the YAG/YC retreat that we may seek deeper insights concerning such times.

REASONS FOR COMING FOR THE RETREAT

1. LEARNING TO HOW TO COPE IN CHALLENGING TIMES

“Remove from me reproach and contempt”
Psalm 119:22

The Psalmist was seeking to cope in a world that was hostile. Contempt and reproaches were experienced by him. These things came about when princes spoke against him (Psalm 119:23). One of the ways of coping with challenges is to pray for such things to be removed.

2. LEARNING TO PRAY WITH GOD’S WORD IN MIND

“Deal bountifully with Your servant,
That I may live and keep Your word.”
Psalm 119:17

The Psalmist also sought to pray with the Scriptures in mind. He saw himself as the Lord’s servant and he prayed He might deal with him in a most gracious manner that he might continue to live and keep the word of God. Let’s also learn to pray with a heart that seeks to keep God’s word.

3. SEEKING TO SEE DEEPER TRUTHS FORM GOD’S WORD

“Open my eyes, that I may see
Wondrous things from Your law.”
Psalm 119:18

Another reason why we should go for the Retreat is the opportunity to discover deeper truths from the Scriptures. There is no greater joy than for the Lord to illumine us to His truths and for us to behold great and mighty things from His law.

4. FINDING THE FAITH TO KEEP GOD’S WORD

“For I have kept Your testimonies.”
Psalm 119:22

The Psalmist had greatly desired to keep the Scriptures. In this verse, we read of how the Psalmist had actually got down to practising the word of God. In the midst of challenges of life, he learnt how to obey God’s will. May we also be challenged to do so at this Retreat!

5. FINDING DELIGHT IN THE WORD OF GOD

“Your testimonies also are my delight
And my counsellors.”
Psalm 119:24

As we study the word of God, we should also be able to delight in His word. The word of God would be our counsellors in challenging times. We are meant to meditate on it and let His word lead us. May we find great delight in His word as you seek to come and study the Scriptures at the YAG/YC Retreat! May His word bring wise counsel to our mind and heart!
