The Challenge To Pray For People In Times Of Need

It is always a challenging prospect to learn to pray for people. When we see people in need, we must not remain silent. We must be concerned enough to pray for them. I would like to highlight three immediate needs that we want to pray for.

1. Baby Geena

Baby Geena is the one and a half year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Andrew Ng. She has been having seizures every day for the past few days. When we went to visit her last Tuesday, we actually saw her having a fit, right before our eyes. It was heart wrenching to see a little baby going through such a predicament. Let’s care enough to pray for baby Geena and her parents.

2. Deacon Henry From Perth

Deacon Henry is one of our Church deacons in Perth. He is fighting lymphoma, a cancer of the lymph nodes in the body. He has gone for surgery but the battle against cancer has just begun. Let’s pray that the Lord’s grace will be upon him and his family.

3. All Students Taking Exams

There are quite a number of students from our Church taking the “O” levels, “A” levels and university exams. It is most tiring and demanding to take exams. They need all the prayer support they can get. Let’s also remember them in prayer.

Two Principles To Keep In Mind As We Pray

There are two principles we want to consider even as we pray.

1. Being Led By The Spirit To Pray And Supplicate

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit”
Ephesians 6:18

The Spirit of God would lead us to pray. When we see people in great need, the Holy Spirit will prompt us to pray and supplicate for people. We must learn to be sensitive to the Spirit’s leading.

2. Watching And Interceding For People

“Being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints”
Ephesians 6:18

Prayer also involves an alert mind that will be watchful. Not only must we pray, we must also watch what happens subsequent to prayer. Is more prayer needed? There are times when we have to persevere in prayer. There are times when we have to supplicate further in prayer. Let’s seek to watch and intercede for those in need. Prayer really makes a big difference.
