FALSE FAITH VERSUS TRUE FAITH

The Problem Of Having A False Faith

Not everyone who claims to be a follower of Jesus is truly in the kingdom of God. “Christians” can testify of going to Church every week, singing praises to God and serving in ministries. However, participating in such activities does not necessarily equate to having a genuine faith in the Lord Jesus. As such, it is vital for all of us to check from time to time whether we are really in the faith. The Lord Jesus warned of many who would meet Him on Judgment day to find themselves rejected.

1. They Have Only A Verbal Acknowledgement Of The Lord Jesus

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven”
Matthew 7:21

So-called disciples of Jesus can state that they recognise Him as their Lord. And yet, their hearts may be far away from Him. Verbal acknowledgement of Jesus as Lord does not necessarily mean that the individual is saved.

2. They Focus Only On Their Activities

“Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?'”
Matthew 7:22

Many will also claim before the Lord that they had done many things in His name. They know how to use Christian language.

3. They Practise Whatever They Want

“You who practice lawlessness!”
Matthew 7:23

Most of all, such people will always practise spiritual lawlessness. They do whatever they will to do. They do not follow the ways of the Lord. The Lord Jesus declares to such people that He from the beginning never knew them and rejects them.

The Mark Of True Faith – Doing The Will Of God

“But he who does the will of My Father in heaven.”
Matthew 7:21

The mark of one having a true faith in the Lord Jesus is that he will always do the will of God. He recognises that God is His Father. There is a personal and close relationship with the Father. He recognises that God is sovereign in heaven. He will seek to understand what the will of His Father is. A true disciple of Jesus will be concerned about God’s will for His children. Not only will he seek to comprehend that will, He will also desire to fulfil it. Love for the Lord will cause him to submit himself to that will of God. When we continually seek to do the will of God, we will know that we are truly part of the kingdom of God. Young people, if we truly are His children, then let’s endeavour to do His will.
