DEVELOPING GREATER ONENESS

Not Easy To Become One

Oneness is something that we must value highly. It is a state of relationship that Bethany has taken years to cultivate and maintain. We must constantly be on guard and be wary of the problems that can affect our oneness. What are some of these problems? Firstly, doctrinal differences can bring about division. Secondly, personal relationship problems can cause us to be bitter and angry towards each other. We can end up striving with one another. Thirdly, there is the invisible work of the evil one. There is the subtle and dangerous influence of the devil that can destroy friendships and relationships. Our challenge is to always seek to strengthen this bond of oneness in the Church and not let any of these problems affect our oneness. Oneness should be prized above any personal relational difficulties or problems.

The Challenge To Develop Oneness As A YPG Group

How can we go about it?

1. Having Consciousness Of Walking Worthy Of Our Calling

“I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called”
Ephesians 4:1

We are called to be a family of God, to be a holy temple and His dwelling place. Part of that calling is for us to have oneness. It is vital that we have oneness in order to rise up to fulfil God’s calling. We are to actively walk in a manner that is befitting the call that God has given to us.

2. Practising Greater Oneness With One Another

“With all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love”
Ephesians 4:2

Beyond just having consciousness, there must be the actual fulfilment of these things.
There must come a deep sense of humility even as we relate. We must learn to have a humble opinion of self. Our challenge is to relate to each other with gentleness and love. When there is humility and love, we can bear much with each other.

3. Ensuring The Continuing Sense Of Oneness

“Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
Ephesians 4:3

It takes great diligence and effort to ensure this continuing sense of oneness. We can guard this unity through the Spirit of God. There must be a greater sense of bond with each other. As we have our YPG games day this Saturday, let’s take the opportunity to get to know each other better. Let’s build our bonds and develop greater rapport with each other. Let’s be committed towards having a greater sense of oneness. Let’s ensure that we will always be one.
