Thanking God For A Great Junior Camp 2014

The Lord’s grace is evidently seen once again at Junior Camp 2014. We thank God for all who have worked so hard to make this camp successful. It has been a wonderful time of interacting with the children as they were taught about being crowned with glory and honour, depicted through the life of David. As I saw them learning about this wonderful theme, I vividly remember that it was not too long ago that I saw the present camp officers and camp helpers being part of the Junior Camp themselves. They genuinely found faith in the Lord and they have continued in Him. They have sought to serve the Lord well during this week of camp. Truly, they are now seeking to fulfil this definite concept of being crowned with glory and honour. It is our prayer that the present campers will also realise their potential one day for God. He can truly work further in their lives.

The Great Potential Within All Of Us

1. Potential Of Great Strength In Life

“Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants
You have ordained strength,
Because of Your enemies,
That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.”

Psalm 8:2

David wrote of how God had already placed within every baby the potential for great strength. Within all of us are the innate strength and the ability to overcome the challenges and problems of life. David saw how the answer to the problem of the enemies of God is the potential within children. Children will grow up and they can be great leaders like Moses and David who did God’s great work and silenced His enemies. Young people, we too have the potential of strength from God to overcome whatever challenges we may have in life and ministry. Let’s seek to find this.

2. Potential To Reflect The Glory Of The Lord In Life

“For You have made him a little lower than the angels,
And You have crowned him with glory and honour.”

Psalm 8:5

God also made us with the potential to reflect His glory. He made man from the beginning to be much weaker than angels. And yet we have been given the privilege of sharing the glory and honour of being like the Lord. There is that potential within us to have great joy in life, to be successful in all that we do and be good servants of the Lord. Although that potential has been marred by sin, it has now been restored through the work of the Lord Jesus (Hebrews 2:9). He epitomises what it means to be crowned with glory. Young people, we too can reflect the glory of the Lord Jesus by following Him. Let’s remember that we are meant for glory and honour, not failure and shame.

3. Potential To Have A Purposeful Life

“You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands;
You have put all things under his feet”

Psalm 8:6

God also made man with a tremendous sense of purpose for his life. Our life is not meant to be one that is dull and unfulfilling. Instead, it is meant to be exciting, purposeful and most rewarding. The Lord God meant us to have dominion over the works of His hands which He created. Let’s find tremendous purpose in working hard as students and workers wherever we may be. If we are indeed crowned with glory and honour, let’s not stoop to be any lesser. Let’s seek to have a most powerful and purposeful life. As we consider this, let’s appreciate this honour and let’s highly exalt the Lord’s excellent name (Psalm 8:9).
