CHOSEN TO LIVE FOR THE LORD

David was chosen by the Lord to live for Him and to serve Him. What greater purpose is there in life than to live beyond oneself and to serve God and His will! This once neglected shepherd boy was now specially selected by God and anointed by the prophet Samuel. The Spirit of God was now dwelling in him and working within David Of course, there was still much work that needed to be done in his life. David was chosen to go through a process where the Lord would transform him. Let’s seek to understand further the acronym C.H.O.S.E.N. that was taught by Pastor at Youth Conference 2020.

1. CHANGE

The Lord God will bring about a change to David’s life from the inside out.

2. HEART

David was considered by the Lord as a man after his own heart (1 Samuel 13:14). He had a heart that loved the Lord and sought to serve Him. And yet, God had a further work of training his heart and moulding his life so that he could become more of what He wanted him to be.

3. OVERHAUL

God needed to do a work of complete transformation in his life. There was a need for a total
overhaul of his life. There were weaknesses and sins to be dealt with.

4. SIGNIFICANCE

David stood out as a true servant of God as he faced the giant Goliath (1 Samuel 17:32). He was the only one courageous enough to face him and to stand against him. He really stood out amongst all the other soldiers of Israel. The challenge for us is to also be significant in all that we do. The Lord has chosen us to stand out as His servants.

5. EMPOWERING

There was tremendous power and strength working in the life of David. He was totally unafraid of this giant (1 Samuel 17:37). He relied on the Lord and was empowered by the Spirit. He was able to resoundingly defeat Goliath. The Lord will help and energise His servants to do His will. We too need the Lord’s empowering work in our lives. He can strengthen us to serve Him victoriously.

6. THE “NOW” MOMENT

David rose to the occasion in standing against the Goliath. He was full of faith in the Lord as he fought against Goliath (1 Samuel 17:49). This was his “now” moment. He rose to the occasion. “Now” is the moment for us to seize this window of opportunity to grow. The time to respond to the Lord is “now”. The one who is chosen will indeed respond.

PERSONAL APPLICATION

Young people, let’s seize the moment to learn and to rise up to be what God wants us to be. This is an exciting time for young people at Bethany. Cat class will begin this Saturday at 1pm for those ready to be baptised this Easter. We will be starting our Youth Worship on 6th Feb Saturday at 3pm. “Now” is the moment to rise up and learn. Let’s come to know His will and rise up to live for Him.
