God Remembers Those Who Consider The Poor

This Saturday should be more than just a time of celebrating our anniversary. It should also be a time of specially remembering the less fortunate. God remembers those who care enough to consider the poor in their time of need.

“Blessed is he who considers the poor;
The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.”

Psalm 41:1

The word “poor” does not just refer to the physically poor. It also refers to those who are helpless and powerless. God remembers those who consider the poor and the helpless in a special way. The reason is because the Lord strongly identifies with the poor and helpless. He associates Himself with them.

“He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord,
And He will pay back what he has given.”

Proverbs 19:17

If we give help to the needy, the Lord will see it as if we were lending money to Him. He considers what we give to the poor as if we were giving to Him. There is a strong identification that the Lord has for the poor and needy.

God’s Blessing On Those Who Consider The Poor

“The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.
The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive,
And he will be blessed on the earth”

Psalm 41:1-2

When we take the time and effort to give the poor, the Lord will bless us. There will be the Lord’s gracious involvement in our lives. He will deliver us in times of trouble. When David was in dire straits when Absalom his son sought to kill him, the Lord specially protected and delivered him. He was mercifully kept alive. The Lord also blessed him in all that he did. The Lord will also personally protect us when we learn to give to the poor and needy. He will prosper the works of our hands.

The Challenge To Be That Person Who Considers The Poor

“Blessed is he who considers the poor”
Psalm 41:1

Our challenge is to be that person who will care for the poor. Ju Eng home for the aged has asked whether we could help them in their time of need. They have requested that we give in kind. Let’s plan to give to this home during our anniversary. Let’s be that person who will help the poor. Let’s seek to show that we really care.
