BLESSING THE LORD WITH A HEART OF THANKSGIVING AT OUR ANNIVERSARY

We will be celebrating our 47th anniversary the following Sunday. Even though we may not be able to gather together to praise and worship the Lord as we always do at the Shangri-La hotel due to the Coronavirus, nevertheless, we can still give thanks to the Lord and bless His name. The Psalmist made a call for all people to be full of thanksgiving to the Lord.

“Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.”
Psalm 100:4

1. HAVING A HEART FULL OF THANKSGIVING

All of us can be thankful to Him. Thanksgiving comes from a heart that deeply appreciates the Lord for who He is and what He has done for us. We can worship Him with a sense of deep gratitude for His grace and mercy.

2. THANKSGIVING AND BLESSING HIS NAME GO TOGETHER

His name represents all that the Lord is and what He has done. When we bless His name, we are giving praise and exaltation to Him with heartfelt words. It is with thankfulness that we can bless His name at our 47th anniversary.

THANKFUL TO THE LORD THAT HE IS OUR GOD

“It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.”
Psalm 100:3

One of the things that we can do is to reflect and ponder over who God is to us.

1. GOD AS THE CREATOR OF ALL OF US

We can recognize that the Lord is the creator of all mankind. It is the Lord God who has wonderfully created all of us. We in no way could have created ourselves. Only God could have created us as human beings.

2. GOD AS THE SHEPHERD OF HIS PEOPLE

More than just being human beings, the Lord God has also specifically led us to be His people. Gratefully, we have come to recognize the Lord God as our shepherd. He is our shepherd who has led Bethany the last 47 years and He continues to do so. We should be so thankful that we have a great and loving Shepherd who has provided for all our needs all this while. He continues to guide us in His green pastures and provides for us despite this global pandemic and recession.

RESPONSES OF THANKSGIVING TO THE LORD

1. PRAISE THE LORD JOYFULLY (PSALM 100:1, 4)

As we celebrate our anniversary soon, we can praise Him with great joy.

2. SERVE THE LORD JOYFULLY (PSALM 100:2)

We should serve Him with fullness of joy in our hearts too.

3. KNOW THE LORD IN A DEEPER WAY (PSALM 100:3)

Let’s seek to know Him as our God and Lord. Let’s seek to know Him in a deeper way.
