Recognising God’s Love As Something Worth Singing About

It is hard to put a value on God’s everlasting love. It is truly priceless. We thank God for the many messages that we have heard over the pulpit these past two months about His everlasting love.

“Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love”
Jeremiah 31:3

God’s love is gracious and ceaseless. Last Saturday at the Christmas carolling special, Pastor explained to us the A-Z of how the Lord loved us. Wow! It is truly great to hear of the Lord loving us in so many definite ways and more. The Lord’s love is something truly worth singing about.

A Richer Appreciation Of The Lord’s Everlasting Love

The Lord’s declaration of love was for the remnant of Israel. While the nation of Israel would go into exile, the remnant of Israel would one day return. There would be restoration.

1. Thanking God For His Goodness

“Streaming to the goodness of the Lord”
Jeremiah 31:12

“I will satiate the soul of the priests with abundance,
And my people shall be satisfied with my goodness”

Jeremiah 31:14

The Lord would be transforming the people of Israel from a broken society in exile to being a nation blessed by Him again. His goodness would return to be upon His people. The soul of the priests and His people would be satiated by His great goodness. There would be physical and spiritual blessings.

2. Thanking God For Turning Our Sorrow Into Joy

“For I will turn their mourning to joy”
Jeremiah 31:13

The Lord would turn the sorrow that the people of Israel would have in exile into joy. He would comfort the hearts of the remnant and bring about the revival of the soul. He would turn their sorrow into joy. It is the Lord who turns our grief into joy. This is part of His expression of love.

A Reasoned Response Of Joy To God This Christmas

“Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of the Zion”
Jeremiah 31:12

“Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance,
And the young men and the old together”

Jeremiah 31:13

There was a point of time when judgment came upon the land of Israel. The young men and women of Israel would be slain and many were sent into exile. In exile, because of the hardness of life, there would be very few older people. With God’s restoration and blessings, there would be the return to a blessed life. Because of this, the virgins of Israel, now, would dance with great joy. They would sing on Mount Zion once again and celebrate in his temple. The people would reason that they are now blessed by the Lord and they would respond by rejoicing in the Lord’s great love. Young people, the Lord has also been very good to us. He too has loved us with an everlasting love through the New Covenant. Let’s also seek to have a reasoned response to sing His praises in adoration to Him. Let’s seek to rejoice and praise the Lord for His love and goodness to us. As we perform at the Christmas concerts and worship Him at Christmas, let’s truly rejoice in Him.
