This week, we embark on a new series of articles written specially for young people. It is called Youth Walk. The writings are focused very much on the Christian walk of youths. Many struggle with their spiritual walk. Some find it difficult to maintain a close and consistent walk with our heavenly Father. Many lack the understanding of what a personal and vibrant relationship with the Lord is. As such, they frequently encounter different problems to their daily walk with God. These series of articles seek to encourage and inspire young Christians to live out their faith well for the glory of the Lord. We pray that many will be blessed by these articles.

Walk With Strength

Our first series of articles is based on the theme of “strength”. It is not an uncommon situation for young people to face spiritual weaknesses in their lives. This is especially so when they go through stressful and difficult times. They discover that their faith is not strong enough to cope with the challenges of life. Life can be tough. If we do not have strength in the Lord, it is easy for us to fail and falter. Let’s be challenged to have a Christian walk that is characterised by tremendous spiritual strength.

The Source Of Strength Is Found In The Lord’s Grace

When the Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy, he saw how his young pastor needed to be stronger. Timothy was challenged not to be afraid of suffering for the Lord Jesus. Timothy was also to pass on the Biblical teachings to another generation of faithful servants. It was going to take a lot of strength for Timothy to practise these truths and to establish his ministry. He had to realize that that strength was not found in himself but in the grace of the Lord Jesus.

“Be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.”
2 Timothy 2:1

We are not to depend on our own strength. How very often we make this mistake of trusting in our own strength. Paul encouraged Timothy to rely on the grace of the Lord Jesus. It is only by His grace and mercies that we can be strengthened to face the challenges of life. Furthermore, God had not given us a spirit “of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7). It is through the Spirit of power that we can be strengthened. The source of strength is found in the Lord Jesus’ grace.

The Challenge To Be Strong

The challenge for us is to be strong in the Lord. The word “be strong” means that we are to be empowered in a special way. Let’s learn to rely on the grace of the Lord so much more. It is only by His grace that we can be strengthened. Young people, let’s not have a weak and faltering Christian walk. Instead, let’s seek to build up our spiritual strength by learning to be strong in His grace. Let’s pray for His grace. Let’s be challenged to be strong in faith, life and ministry.
