THE CALL TO PRAISE THE LORD

Psalm 113 focuses on the call to all servants of the Lord to praise the Lord. These includes the Kings, the priests and the Levites.

Praise the LORD! Praise, O servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD!”
Psalm 113:1

The focus of praise is on God and God alone. Sometimes, servants of the Lord in the midst of all that they were doing for Him forget to praise Him as they should. The Psalmist sought to challenge servants of God to praise the Lord and His name always. His name should always be highly regarded at all times. It should be honoured in all that we do.

THE DETERMINATION TO PRAISE THE LORD AND HIS NAME

Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and forevermore! From the rising of the sun to its going down the Lord’s name is to be praised.”
Psalm 113:2-3

1. A fresh determination to praise the Lord and His name

Israel was taught to praise the Lord’s name from the beginning by Moses. However, Israel did not learn this lesson well and failed to continue to do so. They were not consistent in praising the Lord. This Psalm was the Psalmist’s fresh determination to praise the Lord and His name. The Lord’s name should always be blessed.

2. A focused determination to stick to praise the Lord and His name

The Psalmist determined within his heart that he would daily practise praising the Lord’s name. This was meant to be a continuous feature of his life. The call is for us to have a focused determination within our hearts to praise the Lord always. When the sun rises to its going down, we are meant to bless His name.  We are meant to praise Him throughout the day. The challenge is to appreciate the Lord so deeply that we would constantly give praise to Him. Young people, let’s determine that we would stick to worshipping the Lord and His name at Bethany always.
