Wondering at a Natural “Wonder”

It is considered one of the new seven natural wonders of the world. According to Wikipedia, Jegu Island was selcted through a global poll, which was inititated in 2007. This was led by Canadian-Swiss Bernard Weber and organised by the New7wonder Foundation. It attracted 100 million votes around the world and Jegu Island was one of those selected. I visited a scenic sight on it called Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak and took the above picture. This peak is about 182  metres high and rose from the sea in a series of volcanic eruptions. This sight together with others made up the picturesque scenes of Jegu Island. There were some beautiful terrains that got my camera clicking. We thank God for His creation that gives us some sense of wonder.

WONDER AT THE GREATEST WONDER OF ALL – JESUS THE WONDERFUL

By a much greater degree, there is a wonder that goes beyond all wonders. Of course, that wonder is the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. In Isaiah 9:6, Isaiah recorded these prophetic words of the Lord Jesus

“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name is called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace…”

This Child, the Son of God, would be a great and mighty King. And He would be specially given to us. He would indeed be wonderful and would be magnificent in every way possible. In the text of Judges 13:24, when Manoah asked the Angel of the Lord (The pre-incarnate form of the Lord Jesus) what was His name, the Lord spoke of Himself as being “Wonderful!” And He did a wondrous thing by ascending and disappearing in the flames of the altar when a young goat was being offered. The Lord Jesus also did great and wondrous things when He came into the world; being born of a virgin birth, healing the sick and casting out demons from the possessed, dying and resurrecting from the dead. He would also do great wonders in the heart and life of His disciples. Truly, the Lord Jesus has every right to deserve the name “Wonderful”. May we wonder at our Lord Jesus in a deeper manner, stand in greater awe of Him and worship Him, the Wonder of Wonders, with great faith.
