The Darkness and Light Are Both Alike To You

This was a very special view that I photographed at the Grand Canyon back in 2008.   As the light of the setting sun was dimming in the valley and darkness was creeping in, I saw this ray of light shining through the crevice of the canyon range.   It was brightening up the end of a pathway on a spur.   As human beings, we all need light to observe things.   But this is not the case with our Lord God.   Even if we try to hide ourselves in darkness, it makes no difference to Him.

“If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall on me,” even the night shall be light about me; indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, but the night shines as the day; the darkness and the light are both alike to You.” Psalm 139:11-12

Nothing can be hidden from the omniscience of the Lord God.   Even if we are engulfed in darkness, to Him, it is still light shining and surrounding us. He sees darkness and light as the same.   The Lord God can see all things

“SEARCH ME, O GOD”

“Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me , and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139:23-24

David mentioned two types of searches that God would make. Firstly, he wrote of how God had searched him and had known him from a more general and physical standpoint as a human being (Psalm 139:1).   God knew when he would sit down or when he would rise up.   He knew where David was 24/7.   He could not be hidden from the eyes of the Lord God.   Secondly, he also prayed for God to search him with regards to a deeper and more spiritual standpoint.   He openly and honestly made a call for the Lord to evaluate his heart and to test him out so as to see the anxieties and concerns that he had.   David wanted the Lord to see if there is any wicked way in him and for Him to deal with it, so that He could lead him in the way of righteousness.   Ultimately, David wanted to come clean before the Lord and to do that which is right, since he had seen so much wickedness and hated those who did them. He prayed for the Lord to lead Him in the way everlasting.   Young people, let’s also seek to make such a heartfelt prayer to the Lord from time to time. May He always cleanse our heart from wickedness and lead us in the way of everlasting life.
