Text: Daniel 1

Dear Young People,

GOD’S INVOLVEMENT IN OUR LIFE

One of the most important truths that we must keep close to our heart is the fact that God is deeply involved in our life, especially when we seek to consciously live for Him! It is often because we are not conscious of the Lord in our life that we miss out on the fullness of His blessings!

Daniel determined and purposed in his heart that he would honour the Lord, and he would not defile himself in doing anything that would go against his faith in God! How did God respond to such a spirit? To answer this question, let’s read carefully these words,

“Now God had brought Daniel into the favour and goodwill of the chief of the eunuchs…” (Daniel 1:9).

Whereas Daniel sought to honour the Lord, so God watched over him. The most important person Daniel needed to know was the chief of the eunuchs. He was in charge of the education and training of the young people placed in his care. God knew that Daniel would need a good friend and ally and so he put into the heart of the chief of the eunuchs to take care of him!

GOD’S OUTSTANDING BLESSINGS

Daniel had asked to be tested for ten days. He and his group of three friends would eat only food that Jews were allowed to eat. They would abstain from the food offered by the king, no matter how generous those portions may be!

Amazingly, the chief of eunuchs complied. If God had not put it into the heart of the chief of the eunuchs to be kindly disposed towards Daniel, the request put forward by Daniel would have been rejected as preposterous and perhaps punishment would have been meted out for insubordination!

God gave Daniel and his friends great health. We read these words,

“And at the end of ten days their features appeared better and fatter in flesh than all the young men who ate the portion of the king’s delicacies” (Daniel 1:15).

God had honoured the faith of Daniel and his friends. He had also blessed them with great health.

More blessings were poured out upon Daniel and his friends. Once again, we pay close attention to the reading of God’s Word.

“As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom…” (Daniel 1:17).
