A Word-Inspired Spirit of Faith

“And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believed and therefore speak,”
(2 Corinthians 4:13)

This Youth Conference, I’ve been impacted by how this same spirit of faith we can have is Word-based. In my bible study class with Pastor Chris, I was inspired by the faith of Abraham throughout Genesis – he exercised faith in God many times, but also failed Him at other times. He was willing to sacrifice his own son, Isaac, but also lied about Sarah being his sister while in Egypt.

But through it all, he always took God at his word and promises. He responded in faith, and it was wonderfully recorded for us to learn from:

“And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.”
(Genesis 15:6)

Similarly in Bethany, I’ve caught a glimpse of this spirit of faith that is based on the Word, I see it in the examples all around me; in the pastors, the student pastors, fellow camp officers, the camp cooks etc who took the time and effort to be at camp this year.

It didn’t matter if they did not grow up in church since young or their profession or their family background, the Word is what challenged them to serve the way they did. Personally, I’m challenged to know the Word in a deeper manner, that I may display this same spirit of faith too, and share it with others.
