Celebrating the Christmas miracle

As we enter December and prepare our hearts for Christmas, let us not see the festivities as just another Christmas celebration. Let us look forward to celebrating the miracle of Christmas. How uplifting it is to understand, appreciate and celebrate this amazing miracle. But what is the true miracle of Christmas?

The commencement of the miracle

  1. The miracle of Christmas began with the Lord’s miraculous birth.
  2. The prophet Isaiah prophesied that God would give a sign.
    1. A virgin shall conceive and bear a Son (Isaiah 7:14).
    2. His name shall be called Immanuel (Isaiah 7:14).
  3. The virgin Mary would indeed conceive and bear the Lord Jesus, the Son of God.
  4. “Immanuel” would signify the presence of God as Christ came to save the world.
  5. At that moment, the heavenly host of angels rejoiced and some celebrated His birth.
  6. Yet, the miracle of Christmas is not just limited to the Lord’s birth.

The continuity of the miracle

  1. The miracle of Christmas continues through the life and ministry of the Lord Jesus.
  2. He was the great light that the people in darkness had seen (Isaiah 9:2, Matthew 4:16).
  3. He shone His light upon those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of darkness.
  4. The miracle continued to unfold as His light shone in the world of darkness and distress.
  5. Through the Lord Jesus’ Word and work, the miracle continues today.
  6. The Lord gives His light in our world of darkness as lives are reached with the gospel.

The expansion of the miracle (Isaiah 9:6)

  1. God entrusted the Lord Jesus with a kingdom, a government was placed on His shoulder.
  2. As the great Messianic King, He rules with great authority and power.
  3. He sits on the throne of David and rules with His wise and discerning judgment.
  4. Of the increase of His government, there will be no end (Isaiah 9:7).
  5. The miracle of Christmas continues to grow as the kingdom of God is preached both locally and overseas.
  6. There is no limit to His government as it would keep expanding, reaching out to all.

Celebrating the glorious miracle of Christmas

  1. Isaiah 9:2 and Matthew 4:16 are some of my favourite Christmas verses.
  2. Each time when I read and study these verses of how the people who had walked in darkness saw a great light, it always brings an uplift and joy to my own heart.
  3. All of us have been there before, dwelling in the darkness of sin and the distresses of life. 4. Those dark times could have potentially entrapped us indefinitely.
  4. Because Christ came as the miracle of light into this world, everything changed forever.
  5. He made a significant difference for all who live in darkness and fear of death.
  6. The miracle of His birth and salvation changed everything for all of us.
  7. The Lord’s glorious kingdom continues to spread salvation, peace, hope and more.
  8. The miracle of His light increases much, overcoming the darkness of Satan, sin and death.
  9. Let Christ inspire us to give praise and worship for who He is and all that He has done.

Let us stand in awe and rejoice in Him as we celebrate the glorious miracle of Christmas.
