New Inspiration

An inspiring start
Last Sunday, Pastor Charles returned to church and began a new series of messages on the theme, “Give Me This Mountain”, with an inspiring word. As we prepare over the next two months for our 50+3 Anniversary, we want to find fresh inspiration. Inspiration can be lost along the way. After 50-plus years of ministry, we do not want to take it easy now. We want to draw inspiration from Caleb, who asked to conquer a mountain. Let us be inspired to climb our next mountain as a church.
1. Visionary inspiration
- A visionary inspiration comes from the Lord and His Word.
- The Lord gave Moses a visionary inspiration through His plan for Israel (Numbers 13:1–2).
- He told Moses to send men to spy out the land of Canaan, which He was giving to Israel.
- God was very clear about His plan…He was giving them the land as He had promised.
- This should have inspired the people to move forward with conquering the land of Canaan.
- God’s vision for us should inspire us to go forward with His plans.
- We thank God for the vision He gave to Pastor concerning Bethany at the beginning.
- His growing vision of Bethany I to Bethany IV has truly inspired us to move forward.
2. Unprocessed inspiration
- God called for the leaders of the children of Israel to spy out the land (Numbers 13:3–16).
- They were promising young leaders but some proved to be foolish and rebellious.
- When they returned from spying, 10 leaders gave a bad report, saying the land was filled with giants and fortified cities.
- Fear led them to dissuade Moses and the people from entering the land.
- This was an unprocessed inspiration, as they did not think through the situation sufficiently.
- As Israel disobeyed God and refused to enter the land, God sent them back into the wilderness for 40 years.
- There were grave consequences because of their unprocessed inspiration.
3. Processed inspiration
- Both Caleb and Joshua were the only two of the 12 spies who obeyed God.
- This is what God said about Caleb…“But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it.” (Numbers 14:24)
- He had a different spirit from the other 10 spies.
- He was willing to follow the Lord fully…to do as the Lord commanded and planned.
- Caleb was inspired to proceed into Canaan, guided by the Lord and His Word.
- We thank God that our inspiration as a church has always been based on and processed according to the Lord’s Word.
4. Community inspiration
As a church community, we have been inspired by the Lord’s vision and His Word. We have been working together to fulfil His plan for us. Let us continue to find community inspiration as a church according to what the Lord Jesus said, “And on this rock I will build My church” (Matthew 16:18). May the Lord continue to help us build Bethany from strength to strength. Let us be challenged to find new inspiration, both as individuals and as a church, to go forward with a sense of oneness and fulfil the Lord’s plan for Bethany.
