Thank God for the glorious throne of grace

Take a moment. Imagine being at the majestic and glorious throne of God. How awesome it is to come before our great and holy King…full of splendour and honor, sitting on His throne. The heavenly host would bow down to the throne. All who dwell in the heavens would worship our King. (Rev 4) What a sight that would be. It never ceases to thrill me just to imagine what it would be like when we finally come face to face with God.

Yet, on a daily basis, we can with godly fear enter into His presence to His throne of grace in prayer and to seek His help. This is the privilege that we all have…to access God on a daily basis due to our standing with Him. Thank God for His throne of grace.

Times of utter helplessness

I have come to appreciate this throne of grace even more, especially when we find ourselves in times of utter helplessness. It is one thing to come before God for daily help. But it is in those times when we are truly helpless…when no matter what you do, there is no abating of the sorrow and fear that one feels. It is in such times that we recognise our own human inabilities and learn to exercise faith in the Lord’s divine capability. It is in such a moment that we seek the Lord’s divine help…at His throne of grace.

The seeking of mercy and grace

“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Heb 4:16)

Through Christ as our High Priest, we have this wonderful access to the throne of grace. We can come boldly to our God and plead with Him. We plead for mercy and grace in the midst of our desperate need.  God would truly show His abundant mercy and grace to us. In those times of helplessness, no other one can help us as best as the Lord can in giving mercy and grace. Let us truly rely on the Lord’s mercy and grace.

A truly timely help

We recognise that these distressing times of helplessness will come. We will find ourselves in dire need time and time again. Yet God’s help is something that will always meet up to those needs. The word “help” means “to give aid or rescue in an urgent need”. The Lord knows our urgent needs in life and He rescues us in response to our pleas. The phrase “in time of need” means a “well timed” help. God’s help is always timely especially when we come before the Lord and seek His grace and mercy – He will graciously give us His divine aid. Thank God for the divine help that we can find at the throne of grace. When we feel utterly helpless, let us be challenged to come boldly to the throne of grace.
